What a difference one date can make…

Who would have thought Tony Roma’s BBQ joint would cook up such a romance? Yep, it was sweet, spicy, tangy, and rich, and we’re not talking about the sauce but, the sparks that flew between Jay and Christine Carr the night they first met on a triple date. Though not each other’s date, they instantly knew there was a connection not easily broken.

After graduating from Samford University, Jay was on the road with Student Life Ministries and Christine was on the road as either an RN, pre-med student, student pilot, aspiring Miss Alabama, or backpacker through Europe. Three years of dating and Jay finally lassoed his love, they were married at Church at Brook Hills in 2000.

Adventures only get bigger whenever people think they’ve “settled down.”

While Christine was in Anesthesia School at UAB, both she and Jay experienced the greatest joy of their life..adopting their nephew, CJ, when he was only 3 months old. One year later, as new parents, they purchased the Birmingham Kids’ Directory and began growing a family business the same time their main business was growing a family!

Today, the Birmingham Kids’ Directory is the longest running family publication in the Birmingham Metro area. As well, Jay and Christine now expect the birth of their fourth child, Elizabeth Joy, in late May.

They are active in their church at Westwood Baptist, little league baseball, and love raising their children, C.J. (6), Laurelin (4), Bryan, (2), and little Joy (soon!).
